Former Canadian bobsledder Rob Gray hired as coach

Former Canadian bobsledder Rob Gray has been appointed the Regional Bobsleigh Coach for BCBSA. He will be working as the starts and strength coach, as well as doing recruiting and talent identification.

Gray competed for Canada as a bobsleigh brakeman and crewman, racing internationally from 2006-2010, with pilots such as Lyndon Rush, Pierre Lueders and Serge Despres. He has raced at many levels during his career, from the provincial ABA Cup series to the World Championships.

"I had many great experiences with many great teammates in that time," Gray said of his sliding career.

Gray has also been competing in and coaching Olympic Weightlifting for 10 years, and has had the opportunity to compete across the country in provincial, western Canadian and national championships.

In 2009, Gray was appointed as the development coordinator and starts and strength coach for the Alberta Bobsleigh Association. During the 2010-11 season he retired as an athlete to become the starts and strength coach for the Canadian National Bobsleigh Team on the World Cup Tour.

"I am glad to be back in my hometown of Vancouver, B.C. attending UBC and am looking forward to helping develop BC's sliding sport community."
